Mayhem Miller Shoots Down Sonnen DSOTC Episode

Jason "Mayhem" Miller has mocked the idea that Chael Sonnen belongs on Darkside of the Cage.

Vice TV is airing the second season of its combat sports documentary series, with both Miller and Sonnen receiving standalone episodes. Miller, who lost to Sonnen via decision at a reservation show in California in 2002, questioned the basis for his old opponent's inclusion during a recent appearance on Bowks Talking Bouts.

Miller Questions Sonnen's Darkside Storyline

"Like why? Why? Did he cheat his taxes? Was that the sad part of it?" Miller said, per BJPenn.com. "Oh man, when he beat the s**t out of Anderson Silva for four [rounds], for 24 and a half minutes, and then just accidentally got tapped out. That's the sad part of Chael Sonnen? The part where he has the best-selling book and podcast?"

Miller continued: "I don't see the sadness in this man. When he grew up in Oregon and his dad didn't make $100,000 per year? I don't know, man."

Sonnen built his UFC persona on calling out Anderson Silva and adopting a trash-talking villain role that preceded many of the promotional tactics seen in MMA today. He told BJPenn.com that when he first claimed to be better than Silva, he expected pushback but instead found media opportunities rolling in. Sonnen challenged Silva twice for the middleweight title, nearly finishing the Brazilian in their first meeting before getting submitted in the fifth round.

Both Miller and Sonnen episodes are now streaming as part of Darkside of the Cage season two on Vice TV.
