Lamont Roach targets Shakur Stevenson, Keyshawn Davis after Zepeda
Lamont Roach plans to chase the biggest names at lightweight once he gets past William Zepeda this August, according to Bad Left Hook.
Roach, who fought to a draw with Pitbull Cruz in his last outing, told Fight Hub TV that Zepeda brings more speed and foot pressure than Cruz but lacks the same refusal to back up. "We'll see how Zepeda is able to take what I bring to the table as far as IQ, as far as punching power, as far as my pressure," he said.
Shakur Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis on Roach's radar
Asked about undefeated prospects, Roach said Shakur Stevenson remains his top target. "Skill for skill he knows we are compatible and he knows that a fight with us would be one of the best fights, especially for the 135 pound division," Roach told the outlet. He added that Stevenson has options but said he's ready whenever Stevenson commits.
Roach confirmed Keyshawn Davis is a potential opponent but drew a hard line on weight. Davis called him out recently and the two discussed a matchup, but Roach said he won't follow Davis to welterweight. "He's going up to '47 so I wouldn't fight him at '47. I'd fight him at '40 but I wouldn't fight him at '47. I'm a 35-pounder," he said.
He also left the door open for O'Shaquie Foster, saying the former champion could trigger a mandatory by moving up in weight. Roach faces Zepeda on August 1.
