Khabib Nurmagomedov took issue with how Islam Makhachev handled Ian Garry at the UFC 330 press conference Thursday night.

The welterweight champion told Garry to shut up during the media event in Philadelphia, drawing cheers from the crowd. But Nurmagomedov, who now coaches Makhachev, pulled his fighter aside afterward to deliver a quick lesson in manners.

"Ian Garry was talking very nicely about him," Nurmagomedov said, per MMA Mania. "[Islam] said 'shut up.' Be nice, brother. Sometimes, maybe you don't like somebody, but when somebody give you respect, at least be quiet. Don't say 'shut up.'" The former lightweight champion added that Makhachev should have asked Garry not to interrupt rather than snapping at him.

Makhachev reportedly blamed the crowd noise for his reaction. The exchange came during a press conference that saw Garry lose his composure with fans who heckled him throughout, culminating in the Irishman telling the audience they would call him great after Saturday night.
