Hunter Calls Fury A Clown, Broner's Diary Exposed

Michael Hunter has hit out at Tyson Fury’s decision to fight Francis Ngannou on the basis that it is holding up the heavyweight division.

The two will face each other on October 28th, 2023, in a fight where Ngannou will make his boxing debut.

The odds of the former UFC heavyweight champion pulling off an upset are next to none, which has only been exacerbated by the fact that the undisputed heavyweight fight with Oleksandr Usyk has not gone ahead.

Naturally, that has held up the heavyweight division with question marks over whether or not Fury should be stripped. Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, suggested that stripping Fury would be beneficial from a sporting point of view.

"So, he is not actually breaking any rule of the WBC, but from a sports point of view he has to be stripped because he stays inactive for so long and he’s cheating people [by] announcing fights that don’t take place," Krassyuk

Hunter’s Comments

And yet, the failure of Fury to fight a mandatory has not been helped by the struggles between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr.

The pair have failed to agree terms for what would be a WBC title eliminator. Wilder’s camp have offered a 70-30 split, with Ruiz’s team demanding 50-50.

That has simply delayed Fury’s mandatory obligations. Despite this being the case, Hunter slammed Fury since the ‘Gypsy King’ could have fought a legitimate boxer.

"We basically got a clown holding the belts, and it’s a bad situation. He wants all the belts, and that’s how it should be. I feel he would fight an even faster pace if it were allowed/ Tyson Fury dodged a bullet on Usyk.

"He would give Tyson Fury a problem; that’s not a secret; there’s no way he should not be fighting [him]. It’s not good for the whole situation. I feel like it’s a selfish move on Fury’s behalf," Hunter

However, if Fury and Usyk win their next fights, then all eyes will be on an undisputed fight. The Ukrainian must overcome Daniel Dubois on August 26th, 2023. And provided that he does, then the pressure will be on Fury to make the fight happen.

Adrien Broner’s Mental Health

Adrien Broner fall from boxing has been hard. The four-division world champion is not the same fighter that he once used to be.

Three fights in four years showed the level of inactivity that he had, which was clouded by personal problems and mental health concerns.

Although that may have been the case, Broner did return back to the ring in June. A unanimous-decision win over Bill Hutchinson got ‘AB’ the requisite rounds that he needed.

However, the failure to stop him showed that Broner’s skills were not up to scratch. Meanwhile, a new promotional deal with Don King faces uncertainty over whether Broner can attract the biggest fights.

Following his win over Hutchinson, Broner called out WBC champion Regis Prograis and WBA champion Rolando Romero

But given that Broner no longer has the same star power that he once had, such fights seem unlikely given the low-reward on offer for fighting AB.

And now it seems that reality is hitting home, as Broner shared parts of his diary which showed apologies to various people he had wronged throughout his career.

With that being said, here were some of the apologies.

Quotes

"Now, I want to apologize to Gervonta Davis. I know you love me like I came out your mom, and you just want the best for me, but I will see you in Vegas. We are going to talk.

"I want to apologize to Jermall and Jermell Charlo. I was drunk doing an interview. But I know you boys don’t hate me, and I don’t hate you all. I never bet against you. I’m just being the bigger man telling the truth.

"I want to apologize to Errol Spence Jr. He’s got the biggest fight of his life coming, and I’m going be there yelling until my voice is gone. After, we will talk in person.

"I want to apologize to Terence Crawford because we got a respectful relationship. I would never go against you. But you are fighting my brother, so I can’t jump ship. It’s all LOVE.

"Last but not least, I want to apologize to Floyd Mayweather. When we first met, you told me a lot. You tried to teach me a lot, but I went my own way and figured it out myself.

"Now that I’m older, I can see that you tried to help me. If I would have listened to you, I probably wouldn’t have gotten in the trouble I’ve been in.
