Charles Oliveira calls for Justin Gaethje rematch after UFC title win

Charles Oliveira is chasing a rematch with Justin Gaethje after the American's recent lightweight title unification win.

Oliveira submitted Gaethje with a rear-naked choke in the opening round of their UFC 274 bout in May 2022, but the Brazilian had already been stripped of the belt on weigh-in day for missing the 155-pound limit. Now that Gaethje holds unified gold again following his stoppage of Ilia Topuria at the UFC White House card, Oliveira wants to settle the score.

Oliveira references 'scale robbery' and Gaethje's injury claims

"The world knows what happened in our first fight when there was the 'scale robbery case.' I got the submission win but got my title stripped," Oliveira told Brazilian journalist Laerte Viana on Monday, per Sherdog. "Gaethje also said he suffered an accident before the fight, so let's make that rematch. That's the fight the world wants to see."

Oliveira currently holds the BMF title and is one of several names in the mix for the next lightweight title shot. Top contender Arman Tsarukyan is also in the conversation, as is the winner of the UFC 329 headliner between Max Holloway and Conor McGregor.

Gaethje has reportedly dismissed the possibility of an immediate rematch with Topuria. A decision on his first defense could come after UFC 329 next month.
