Beatriz Mesquita calls out Ailin Perez after UFC 279 finish

Beatriz Mesquita stayed unbeaten Saturday night, stopping Melissa Mullins at UFC Fight Night 279, then wasted no time naming her next target: surging bantamweight Ailin Perez.

Mesquita, a 10-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion now 8-0 in MMA, told UFC Brazil reporter Evelyn Rodrigues that she finds Perez disrespectful and wants to settle the matter inside the cage. "The Octagon is no place to be twerking and showing your butt," Mesquita said, per Sherdog. "I'm ready to face her and show the 'Lady GOAT' mentality."

Why Mesquita wants the Perez fight next

The callout leans into the natural Brazil-Argentina rivalry that exists across combat sports. Mesquita, who goes by the nickname "Lady GOAT," said she came to the UFC to become divisional champion and plans to climb the bantamweight ladder as high as possible before the end of 2026.

She told reporters she wants a title shot in 2027 and considers herself the new face of Brazilian women's MMA. Perez, who has earned attention both for her finishes and her celebratory dances after wins, presents the kind of high-profile matchup that could move Mesquita closer to that goal.

No response from Perez or the UFC has been reported. Mesquita's third Octagon appearance marked her third finish under the promotion's banner.
