Hrgovic On Itauma Rematch After Upset Win

Filip Hrgovic says he would demolish Moses Itauma in a rematch after his upset victory last month made him heavyweight champion.

The Croatian told The Stomping Ground he watched the fight back and immediately wanted another crack at the British prospect. "In the end it was a big win, big victory and big achievement but I feel like I can do better, like I should throw more and I should be faster," Hrgovic said, per Bad Left Hook.

Hrgovic Calls Himself Best Heavyweight Champion

Hrgovic said Itauma's speed made him hesitant but that he should have been more aggressive. "If a rematch happens, I will smash him," he added.

The 34-year-old described his path to the title as torturous, pointing to politics in the sport alongside the physical grind. "I went through hell and a lot of sacrifice and a lot of pain," he said. "Through all these problems and everything I always believe I'm going to become world champion, and I did, finally."

Hrgovic now considers himself the top champion in the division, dismissing how other titleholders won their belts. He claimed Agit Kabayel received his without a real fight and that Fabio Wardley was gifted a decision over Joseph Parker. Hrgovic believes his win over Itauma tops any recent heavyweight victory.

No rematch date has been set. Itauma has not commented publicly on Hrgovic's challenge.
