McGregor Witnesses Charged After Perjury In Sexual Assault Case

Two people who provided statements attempting to help Conor McGregor in his sexual assault civil case were charged with perjury this week after investigators determined they fabricated their testimony.

Samantha O'Reilly and Steven Cummins appeared before Dublin District Court on Tuesday morning to face charges of giving false statements in judicial proceedings, according to reports from the Irish Independent and MMA Mania. O'Reilly faces two additional counts related to false statements given in January and May of last year.

Witnesses Claimed They Saw Domestic Incident Involving Accuser

The pair had submitted sworn statements during McGregor's civil trial in late 2024, claiming they lived across from Nikita Hand and witnessed what appeared to be a domestic altercation involving Hand's then-partner Stephen Redmond. McGregor's legal team hoped to use the testimony to counter Hand's account that the former UFC champion inflicted documented injuries during a sexual assault at a Dublin hotel in 2018. But when prosecutors prepared to cross-examine O'Reilly and Cummins, McGregor's lawyers withdrew the evidence and distanced themselves from the witnesses.

Detectives later obtained a statement from the Drimnagh landlord who rented to O'Reilly and Cummins. The landlord told authorities the couple had not moved into the property until a week after the alleged assault occurred, according to the Irish Independent. Sources also told the outlet that O'Reilly was a "Conor McGregor super fan."

A civil jury found McGregor guilty of sexual assault following the trial. McGregor appealed the verdict and lost, and continues to face multiple lawsuits stemming from the incident. O'Reilly and Cummins were remanded on continuing bail until November 9.
