Hearn Denies White's Fury-Joshua Involvement Again
Eddie Hearn says Dana White has been shut out of the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight scheduled for Dec. 11 in Cardiff, Wales.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter told iFL TV that White cannot claim production duties on the heavyweight clash, per an MMA Fighting report published Tuesday. Hearn said Saudi backer Sela confirmed in writing that the UFC and White are not handling production, with Whisper Films holding the contract instead.
Hearn On White's Role In Fury-Joshua
White has insisted he has a hand in the event, recently posting about the fight on social media and pushing for it to happen at Madison Square Garden. Hearn blocked that bid, ensuring the bout stayed in the U.K. "I've won our battle," Hearn said. "The main battle was, don't let this fight happen in America. Don't take this fight away from British fans. And we won."
White maintains the announcement was originally slated for a UFC White House event last June. Saudi boxing backer Turki Alalshikh, a White ally, has also backed the UFC president's version of events. Hearn dismissed White's pivots from promoter to production partner as weak, adding that he is open to a conversation about changing vendors if White presents a compelling case.
Fury and Joshua meet at Principality Stadium with both men looking to revive their heavyweight credentials after recent setbacks.
