Grigorian On Travel Habits Before ONE Title Run

Kickboxing veteran Marat Grigorian credits strategic time away from the gym for maintaining mental sharpness between fights.

The former three-time Glory champion opens his campaign in the ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament against Mamuka Usubyan at The Inner Circle 25 this Friday at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, per BJ Penn.com. The eight-man bracket awards the winner a shot at reigning featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon.

How Travel Fuels Grigorian's Fight Prep

Grigorian, who stopped Kaito Ono at ONE SAMURAI 1 in April, told the outlet that he deliberately shuts everything down between camps to restore energy levels. "After my fights, I take some time off just to focus on my life," he said. "There's no better way to just shut down everything and relax at a destination. This helps me grow mentally. It keeps my mind fresh before and after fights, restores my energy levels, and keeps me sharp before I continue fight camp or training."

The Hemmers Gym representative, who has challenged for ONE gold before, is considered one of the favourites to emerge from the bracket. He said his next trip may depend on tournament results — possibly a celebration with his parents if he wins through — but right now vacation plans sit behind Friday's opening assignment.

A deep Christian faith and a longstanding goal to bring his parents to Jerusalem remain high on his post-tournament list, according to the report. First comes Usubyan and a path back to the title shot that eluded him previously.

The Inner Circle 25 streams live from Bangkok on Friday, August 7.
