Colgan Reveals No Concussion After Nurmagomedov KO

Archie Colgan says he escaped serious injury after Usman Nurmagomedov knocked him out with a head kick at PFL New York last Saturday.

The previously undefeated lightweight posted on Instagram that doctors found no concussion despite the brutal finish. "Dr. said NO concussion but I will rest up," Colgan wrote, per BJPenn.com. "Thank you to my team for all we've built leading to this. Thank you to my fans and supporters for your love. The journey continues."

Colgan's First Loss Ends 13-Fight Streak

Nurmagomedov, cousin of UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, landed a head kick that dropped Colgan before following with ground strikes to finish the fight. The loss snapped Colgan's 13-0 start to his professional career, which included wins over Mansour Barnaoui and Manoel Sousa during his PFL and Bellator runs. Colgan left the cage under his own power with UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje at his side.

In his post, Colgan acknowledged the mistake that cost him. "In a match of perfection I made a mistake and paid the maximum price in front of the world," he said. He congratulated Nurmagomedov and his team as "all world-class men and fighters."

Nurmagomedov will reportedly test free agency after the win, with potential UFC interest on the horizon. The unbeaten PFL champion could receive an offer from Dana White's matchmakers following his finish of the former NCAA Division I wrestler.
