GFL Confirms NSAC Approval After Missing Launch Date
Global Fight League announced it received Nevada State Athletic Commission approval to host a mixed martial arts event in 2027, posting the news on Oct. 21 — four days after the promotion failed to deliver its scheduled launch card at Sam's Town Live in Las Vegas.
GFL scrubbed references to the Oct. 17 event from its social media pages weeks before the date arrived, according to MMA Mania. No venue or date for the newly approved card has been disclosed.
GFL's Track Record Of Delays
The team-based MMA venture has cycled through multiple launch attempts since late 2024, when executive Darren Owen told media the organization was "funded" and "100-percent ready to launch." That event never materialized. GFL later lost its backing and faced threats of lawsuits from signed fighters over unpaid obligations.
The promotion now enters a 2027 market crowded with UFC, the PFL-MVP joint venture set to debut in coming months, and Ki MMA. One fan replied to GFL's commission announcement with two words: "Go away."
GFL has not announced which fighters remain under contract or when its Nevada-approved event will take place.
