Gassiev Invited To Join Queensberry's Heavyweight Stable

Frank Warren has extended an open invitation to WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev to join Queensberry's growing stable of titleholders.

Warren's promotion already controls three of the four major belts at heavyweight. Agit Kabayel holds the WBC strap, Daniel Dubois owns the WBO version, and the vacant IBF title will be contested when Moses Itauma meets Filip Hrgovic in London on August 29. That leaves Gassiev's WBA belt as the only championship outside Queensberry's portfolio.

Warren Confirms Interest in Unification Program

Asked whether he would pursue a deal with the 34-2 Russian, Warren told The Ring he had no reservations. "Of course, we haven't got a problem doing that," he said. "He's a good fighter, a quality fighter. Why wouldn't he want to come and get involved? We're the home of the heavyweights."

Warren outlined a plan to crown a new undisputed champion within 18 months to two years through a coordinated unification schedule. He acknowledged the process requires cooperation from the sanctioning bodies to delay mandatory obligations. "We've got to get the governing bodies together to agree a unification program," Warren said. "That means mandatories might need to be pushed back and so forth."

Queensberry seized control of the heavyweight landscape after Oleksandr Usyk vacated all four belts earlier this year. Warren said his promotion has done more to activate the division than anyone in recent memory. "I don't think the heavyweight division's had so many title fights on like this in succession for many, many, many years," he said. "And we're making it happen."

Gassiev last fought under the IBA Pro banner and has floated the possibility of traveling to Germany to face Kabayel in a unification bout.
