Garcia Refuses Haney Rematch

Ryan Garcia is not interested in a Devin Haney rematch.

Garcia made his position clear. He knocked Haney down and won the fight. What followed — failed drug tests, a result overturned to a no contest, and a legal dispute that has dragged on since — remains unresolved in his mind, and he has no intention of stepping back into the ring with Haney until he gets what he calls the truth.

"This dude, he's going to have to eat at himself for a while because until he admits that they f*** with my s*** or something that was going on, I'm never going to fight him. I promise you. Unless he tells the truth, I won't ever," Garcia

Garcia points out that he produced clean tests throughout the promotion leading into the fight. The positive result surfaced weeks afterward. He has also raised the fact that Haney's younger brother publicly predicted Garcia would test positive before any result was announced, a sequence Garcia says has never been adequately explained and which he views as evidence that something outside the normal process was occurring.

"If you guys don't admit some s*** you won't ever see this, bro. And guess what? It's going to eat at you forever because that iconic picture lives on forever. Whenever you talk s*** all I got to do is post the picture of me over you. You got to sit with that. So, buddy, either you start telling the truth, or you won't ever catch this fade again,” Garcia

Garcia returns September 12 against Conor Benn in Las Vegas under the Zuffa Boxing banner, a fight that carries its own significant weight. Looking beyond that, he identified the winner of the Teofimo Lopez versus Rolando Romero fight as his preferred next opponent — a matchup that would keep him at the top of the welterweight conversation without the complications attached to the Haney situation.

Haney, meanwhile, has been struggling to secure any meaningful fight. Mandatory challenger Keyshawn Davis declined his purse bid share this week, and the list of opponents who have come close and not signed continues to grow.
