Garcia Announces December Return After Benn Win

Ryan Garcia says he plans to return to the ring as soon as December, less than three months after stopping Conor Benn in what he called the easiest camp of his career.

Garcia, who knocked out Benn in the seventh round earlier this month, told Ariel Helwani's show that he wants to stay active rather than wait until May for his next big payday. "I have no bruises, I have no hits to the head, why can't I fight?" he said, per Bad Left Hook. "So I'll give the fans a little treat."

Garcia's Contract Situation And Potential December Opponents

The 28-year-old has one fight remaining under his Golden Boy Promotions deal and another contractually tied to Turki Alalshikh's The Ring platform. Garcia said both obligations could be fulfilled on the same night. He mentioned Isaac Cruz and Angel Fierro as possible December opponents, calling the latter fight something other than a tune-up but not a major risk either.

For a May return on Cinco de Mayo weekend, Garcia called out Teofimo Lopez and floated an undisputed rematch with Devin Haney at welterweight. "Let him get another belt, let me get another belt, and let's do it for it all," he said. Garcia also expressed interest in fighting Terence Crawford, saying he wants to avenge Canelo Alvarez's loss, and Gervonta Davis, whom he accused of avoiding him at 147 pounds.

Garcia defended the stoppage against Benn, which some observers felt came early. "He didn't even throw punches back," Garcia said. "Any bit longer, do you want him to suffer real damage for, like, ever?" He also addressed Oscar De La Hoya's absence from ringside, saying he was disappointed his promoter skipped the fight despite having a seat reserved.
