Fury Outweighs Usyk By 50+ Pounds

The final weigh-in took place for the Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury rematch on December 21.

Usyk enters the fight with a victory over Fury as he beat him via a split decision to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. He gave up around 40 pounds and an eight-inch reach disadvantage in the first fight as he upset the odds to become undisputed in a second weight class. His performance was all the more remarkable since he almost stopped Fury in the ninth round, only for the referee to give a standing eight count instead.

Fury experienced the first defeat of his career. He disputed the scorecards, feeling Usyk got the decision because of Russia’s war with Ukraine. Fury has vowed to deliver a knockout, raising questions over his strategy. There was a perception that Usyk would come in around the same weight as the last fight, with Fury coming in heavier. That was what happened as both fighters hit the scales. Fury weighed 281 pounds, while Usyk weighed 226 pounds. The two fighters still had their clothes on, but Fury’s extra weight was visible.
