Floyd Mayweather sued for $4.65M over broadcast rights breach
Floyd Mayweather faces a $4.65 million lawsuit from CSI Entertainment over broadcast rights to exhibition bouts with Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao that allegedly never happened.
CSI Entertainment, which describes itself as a boxing event production and broadcast company, filed the suit in New York claiming Mayweather accepted advances for exclusive distribution rights to both contests, then violated the agreement by pursuing separate deals with competing outlets, per TMZ Sports.
CSI claims Mayweather double-dealt on Tyson and Pacquiao broadcasts
The lawsuit centers on two proposed matchups: an exhibition against Tyson and a sequel to Mayweather's 2015 welterweight unification win over Pacquiao. CSI alleges it paid Mayweather upfront for the sole broadcast rights to both events, only to watch him negotiate similar arrangements with other companies while the original contract was still in effect.
Neither the Tyson exhibition nor the Pacquiao rematch has materialized. Mayweather last fought in an official bout in August 2017, when he stopped Conor McGregor in the tenth round. Since retiring with a 50-0 record, he has appeared only in exhibitions, most recently against John Gotti III in Mexico City last February.
No court date has been set. CSI is seeking the full $4.65 million in damages plus interest.
