Fans have reacted to Oleksandr Usyk taking to the soccer pitch for a charity game for World Legends against Portugal Legends.

The game ended 4-1 for Portugal Legends, as Usyk’s cameo was not enough to make an impact. During his 17 minutes on the field, Usyk—who is currently recovering from a back injury—did not score or look threatening. He was brought on in the 22nd minute when the Portuguese Legends were already leading 1-0. He was then replaced by Youri Djorkaeff. The aim was to raise over 1 million euros. Usyk also spoke about his own foundation, which provides support to people in Ukraine. Usyk also posted a picture, wearing a Polissya uniform with a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo’s face on it.

Controversy

The core of the controversy stems from the fact that Usyk recently postponed a mandatory title defense against Joseph Parker due to a back injury. However, seeing Usyk on a soccer field, running and performing athletic movements, raises serious questions about the severity of his injury. Critics, particularly Parker fans, might view this as a form of "ducking" or an attempt to delay a challenging fight.

This isn’t the first time such a video has surfaced; a prior video of him dancing vigorously on stage also came under scrutiny, prompting an investigation from the WBO before they granted his medical extension. These instances, taken together, contribute to a narrative that Usyk’s team is simply looking for ways to avoid mandatory challengers and hand-pick fights.
