Fans React To Mayweather Vs. Tyson Exhibition – ‘There's No Way'
Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reportedly agreed to an exhibition bout scheduled for 2026, subject to a date and location.
Mayweather retired undefeated with a 50-0 record. Since his retirement, Mayweather has been dabbling in exhibitions. His most recent outing was a win over John Gotti III in 2024, a rematch of their first fight which was stopped due to a brawl.
As for Tyson, he is the former undisputed heavyweight champion. He recently came out of retirement to face Jake Paul last year. Despite going the distance with Paul, it was clear that Tyson was not the same fighter. He even admitted to blacking out and not remembering certain parts of the fight. However, he refused to rule out it being his final bout, as a Mayweather exhibition is now next.
Despite the age and weight difference, the fight is expected to generate record-breaking numbers. Mayweather sold 4.3 million PPVs for the Manny Pacquiao fight, while the Conor McGregor bout sold 4.6 million. Fans understandably had a lot to say, with many questioning the viability of this.
Reaction
"When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather. I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but, Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable—and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. “I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening," Tyson
"I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy. You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want," Mayweather
