Conor McGregor physique two weeks from UFC 329 divides fans
Conor McGregor's conditioning ahead of UFC 329 became a topic of debate after the Irishman was photographed shirtless at Laguna Beach two weeks before his July bout with Max Holloway.
McGregor requested the rematch take place at welterweight, giving him a significant size advantage over Holloway, who only moved to lightweight last year. The 170-pound limit allows McGregor to carry more muscle than he did in their 2013 featherweight meeting, but the Laguna Beach footage split opinion on whether that mass is fight-ready.
Reaction ranges from confidence to concern over McGregor's form
MMA Mania captured some of the social media response. One commenter wrote that McGregor "looks like he's been training for an all you can eat buffet instead of Max Holloway," adding that "the only thing getting knocked out is his diet." Another said McGregor "looks old" and suggested it might be too late for a successful comeback after five years away from competition.
Other fans took a more optimistic view. "Looking shredded Conor," one post read, crediting the fight camp. Another noted McGregor appeared lean compared to a reported walking weight near 200 pounds, while a third observed he was "in shape" but needed to avoid calf kicks.
McGregor has publicly stated he is more focused and dedicated than at any point in his career, describing himself as a changed man. Whether that translates to the Octagon will be settled when UFC 329 takes place next month.
