Ex-NFL Linebacker Wint Earns UFC Contract

Former New York Jets linebacker Anthony Wint earned a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series after stopping Matt Adams (6-3) in just 34 seconds at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on August 11th.

Wint took Adams down and finished him with ground strikes inside the opening minute, prompting White to award him a contract on the spot.

At 5-foot-11 and 231 pounds, Wint is undersized for heavyweight but brings the athletic pedigree of a former professional football player — a crossover path White has long championed, pointing to Greg Hardy, Matt Mitrione and Ovince Saint Preux as predecessors who made the transition work.

White also singled out Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby as an athlete he believes could have competed at the highest level in MMA had he pursued the sport from a young age.
