Ruiz On Where Joshua vs. Fury Should Happen

Andy Ruiz thinks Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury should settle their long-awaited heavyweight showdown in the UK.

Ruiz, who knocked out Joshua to win three heavyweight belts in 2019 before losing the rematch six months later, weighed in on the stalled negotiations while attending BKB 59 in Tijuana on September 19. The former unified champion told Bare Knuckle Bowker that he does not understand the holdup over venue. "It's going back and forth. I don't know if they're postponing it because they want it here in the United States and then people want it over there in London or in the UK," Ruiz said, per BJ Penn. "But I mean, they're both from over there. So, I don't know. I don't see what's the problem. I think it should be over there."

December 11 Cardiff Date Floated For Joshua-Fury

Ruiz added that a UK staging would draw bigger viewership and crowds, and closed with his own pitch: "I just want the opportunity to fight either of them." DAZN's Chris Mannix reported that December 11 in Cardiff is under consideration, with an announcement possible next week. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said the bout could serve as a title eliminator if finalized.

Joshua and Fury both won tune-up fights in July, one day apart. Negotiations have dragged for years between the two British heavyweights, with recent reports suggesting disagreements over venue and promotional terms remain unresolved.
