Devin Haney edges Keyshawn Davis in Sergio Mora's breakdown
DAZN analyst Sergio Mora gives Devin Haney a narrow edge over Keyshawn Davis in a potential title defense, citing resume and consistency as the deciding factors.
Speaking to Fight Hype, Mora said Davis is "hard to beat" when locked in but noted the rising lightweight can run hot and cold. "When he's on point, no one can beat him," Mora said, per Bad Left Hook. "Devin Haney, every time I think that he's going to come up short, he surprises me. What he did with Brian Norman was incredible."
Why Mora favors Haney over Davis
Mora credited Haney's jab and track record of proving doubters wrong. Davis, meanwhile, has flashed pound-for-pound form in spurts but lacks the same body of work at lightweight. "I would have to edge out Haney because of that, because of the resume, because he keeps proving people wrong," Mora told the outlet.
The former fighter turned commentator also weighed in on Jaron Ennis' recent win over Xander Zayas, praising the welterweight's willingness to seek stoppages even when it leaves him open to counters. Mora called the Philadelphia crowd proof that Ennis is poised to break through as a mainstream attraction in the next few years.
On a hypothetical clash between Ennis and rival Vergil Ortiz, Mora leaned slightly toward Ennis, citing superior pressure management and defensive slickness. "It's close to 50/50 but I'm going to have to lean it slightly towards Jaron Ennis," he said. "But still, let's make the fight happen."
