Paddy Pimblett: Benoit St. Denis Lacks Gaethje's Chin, Cardio

Paddy Pimblett says Benoit St. Denis does not possess the gas tank or durability that made Justin Gaethje such a formidable opponent when they met for the interim lightweight title earlier this year.

Pimblett absorbed a lopsided decision loss to Gaethje at UFC 326 in January, taking heavy punishment across five rounds. Now preparing to face St. Denis in the co-main event at UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Liverpool native is confident the Frenchman cannot present the same level of threat, according to Sherdog.

Pimblett Sees No Path to Victory for St. Denis

The former Cage Warriors champion laid out his prediction bluntly, telling reporters that St. Denis will either get submitted on the mat or stopped on the feet. "Justin Gaethje's a completely different animal from him," Pimblett said. "[St. Denis] won't be able to do [what Gaethje did]. He hasn't got the cardio to do that, and he hasn't got the chin. So if he wants to have a scrap like that, I'll knock his ass out."

St. Denis enters the bout riding four consecutive finishes, all inside the distance. Pimblett, now 23-4, is looking to rebound from the Gaethje setback and re-establish himself as a contender in the stacked 155-pound division.

UFC 329 airs Saturday night from Las Vegas.
