Dana White says UFC 'second worst' after World Cup final botches

UFC president Dana White has admitted his production team is no longer the worst in sports after the FIFA World Cup final broadcast between Spain and Argentina featured a string of celebrity camera mishaps and a botched flyover.

White, who previously defended the World Cup production crew as competent, reversed course after last Sunday's telecast, according to MMA Mania. The broadcast included multiple on-camera errors and a bungled aerial shot that prompted the UFC boss to reassess his earlier stance.

White concedes worst production crown to World Cup crew

"You know what's crazy? I actually teed up the guys who are doing the production, the guys responsible for the production of the World Cup, for [those] guys to hit a grand slam home run," White said on Instagram. "Even though everybody in my team was arguing with me saying that [they] are the worst, I said, 'No, we are the worst – they didn't [mess] it up as bad as we did.'"

White later added that the World Cup crew had "triple down[ed]" on the mistakes. "I bow down. Congratulations to the producers of the World Cup. You guys win, you guys [messed] up that flyover, too. I'm not going to nitpick, I'm just giving you credit where credit is due. We are the second worst."

The comments reference UFC's own celebrity camera issues, including a recent Shakur Stevenson mixup that White called one of several incidents. The promotion previously held the title for a fight night celebrity gaffe that prompted internal criticism.
