Dana White discusses UFC Freedom 250 success, future events
UFC President Dana White called UFC Freedom 250 at the White House a once-in-a-lifetime event and said he has no plans to stage another show of that scale, according to remarks at the post-fight press conference Sunday night.
White told reporters the event exceeded expectations despite weather concerns that never materialized. "The storm literally split and went around the White House," he said, per UFC.com. "You couldn't have had a better night — it was absolutely perfect." He added that Paramount CEO David Ellison was thrilled with the broadcast numbers, calling them "monstrous."
White Rules Out Repeat White House Show
When asked if he would consider staging a similar event in the future, White was blunt. "I can't afford it," he said. "There's no way we can do this again. I'll never do the Sphere again, and we'll never do this again." He praised the collaboration between his staff, White House officials, and the Secret Service in pulling off the South Lawn production, which drew nearly 200,000 people to related events over two days despite limited arena seating.
White floated the possibility of booking interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane against undisputed titleholder Tom Aspinall in Paris, potentially upgrading that Fight Night card to a numbered event. "I'll try to get that done for you," he told a reporter. "The fanbase out there is great, and I know that all the live events out there are fun."
The UFC chief also revealed discussions with President Trump about bringing back the Fight For The Troops series in 2026. White said Trump wanted to stage the military-focused event this year, but White requested a delay. "I need a year to recover financially from the White House fight, so give me a year," he said. The UFC staged multiple Fight For The Troops shows on military bases in the past.
UFC Freedom 250 marked the promotion's most unique venue to date, with seven bouts staged on the White House South Lawn as part of the nation's 250th birthday celebrations. White emphasized the event was a celebration of America with no political agenda.
