White Confirms Page Will Not Return To UFC

Michael Page has fought his last UFC bout.

Dana White confirmed Tuesday that the promotion will not re-sign the welterweight following his contract-ending win over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris last weekend. "That was his last fight on his contract," White told media after Tuesday's Contender Series episode, per MMA Mania. "I don't think we're re-signing him, no. What's the confusion? I think it's been pretty clear that he wasn't being re-signed, and that he would be taken out of the rankings because he's no longer on the roster."

Why UFC Cut Page Despite Winning Record

Page won five of six Octagon bouts and established himself as a ranked fighter at both welterweight and middleweight, but his recent performances drew heavy criticism for punishingly low output. Against Ruziboev in Paris, Page landed just 12 significant strikes across 15 minutes despite his opponent suffering a torn knee ligament from a low kick at the six-minute mark. The crowd booed throughout.

Page had promised increased aggression heading into the Paris bout but failed to capitalize even after the injury. UFC removed him from the rankings immediately after the fight, signaling the promotion's intent before White made it official this week.
