Cormier Warns McGregor About Fighting Gaethje

Daniel Cormier has warned Conor McGregor about having a fight with Justin Gaethje

McGregor has been out of the cage since his loss to Dustin Poirier, during which he suffered a broken leg.

While McGregor has been training and rehabilitating himself since then, facing Gaethje soon after his comeback may not be a wise move.

Gaethje’s confidence is riding high after he stopped Poirier in the second round with a leg kick to the head to secure a win.

In the aftermath, McGregor responded by stating that he would ‘slap’ Gaethje around the cage, as he targeted fights with him, Michael Chandler and Nate Diaz

But given that Gaethje is on top form, having beaten Rafael Fiziev and Poirier, coupled with the fact that he is the BMF title holder, McGregor’s desire to face the best came out.

And yet, Cormier has advised McGregor to be wary.

Cormier’s Comments

"While this is a fun fight, on the surface I believe this is a much more dangerous fight for Conor McGregor because Justin Gaethje is now the No. 1 contender in waiting/ If there’s one thing that could strengthen his case for a title fight, it’s a win over Conor McGregor.

"A McGregor vs. Gaethje fight would blow the doors off of any arena, and because Justin Gaethje is one guy that has no fear of anything that McGregor brings to the octagon," Cormier

Nevertheless, it is important to bear in mind the following. McGregor’s recent comments suggest that he has no intention of entering the fight game anytime soon.

He had also called out KSI just recently, suggesting that he is aiming to stay relevant after having been absent from combat sports since 2021.

But there will come a time where the ‘Notorious’ has to back up his words with some action. Otherwise, there is a chance that mcGregor may not return.

After all, he has done plenty in the sport and has earned enough to take care of himself outside of MMA.
