Chase Hooper submits Mitch Ramirez in first round at UFC Oklahoma
Chase Hooper needed just over a minute to finish Mitch Ramirez at UFC Oklahoma on Saturday night.
The featherweight bout, which aired on Paramount Plus from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, ended with Hooper securing a rear-naked choke after quickly taking his opponent's back, MMA Mania reported. Ramirez tapped after a brief struggle, giving Hooper his ninth UFC victory and snapping a two-fight skid in which he had been stopped by knockout both times.
Hooper's bounce-back submission after consecutive knockout losses
Hooper closed distance early and scored a takedown. Ramirez attempted to reverse position, but Hooper transitioned smoothly to back control and hunted the finish. The 26-year-old had won five straight before the recent knockout losses, and Saturday's performance put him back in the win column against an opponent who also needed a result.
The quick finish came after only brief mat grappling. Hooper sunk the choke and forced the tap with minimal resistance once the hold was locked in. He improves to 9-4 inside the Octagon.
UFC Oklahoma continues Sunday with additional preliminary and main card bouts on Paramount Plus.
