Brunno Ferreira: One Punch Knocks Out Overhyped Aliskerov

Brunno Ferreira believes Ikram Aliskerov's reputation exceeds reality and one clean punch will prove it Saturday at UFC Baku.

The Brazilian middleweight told MMA Fighting that Aliskerov, despite four wins in five UFC appearances including three first-round knockouts, gets more credit than his resume warrants. "I think [his hype] is a bit overblown," Ferreira said, noting he has faced fighters with more justified reputations across nine previous octagon bouts. Aliskerov's two career losses came against Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev, and Ferreira sees that pattern as telling.

Ferreira, who holds wins over Gregory Rodrigues, Marvin Vettori and Armen Petrosyan, was originally slated to fight Aliskerov in July 2025 before the Russian pulled out. That extended prep time gave the Brazilian plenty of footage to study. "I only need one clean shot, just like Whittaker and Chimaev did," Ferreira said, per MMA Fighting. "I believe he doesn't have the strongest chin, and that's already been shown in his fights."

The matchup pairs two proven finishers — only one of Ferreira's 18 MMA fights has gone to decision, while Aliskerov has stopped 12 of 17 opponents. Ferreira enters off a first-round knockout loss to Rodrigues in March but says the setback forced necessary adjustments. He called himself "a different athlete" compared to the version scheduled to fight Aliskerov last summer and claims his body, mind and technique are now aligned.

Aliskerov has fought once since that original booking, grinding out a decision over Jun Yong Park in October 2025. Ferreira dismissed that performance as proof his opponent struggles against mid-tier competition and remains vulnerable to power. The two clash on the main card Saturday in Azerbaijan.
