Brown Credits UFC Medical Staff Despite Warning

Brown, who was cornering Josiah Harrel at the same event, told MMA Fighting the episode represents the organization's biggest fear. "When I first heard about it — we heard a bunch of different rumors like he had a heart attack or a stroke, an aneurysm, a seizure, all these different things — and the first thing I thought is this is the UFC's worst nightmare," he said on The Fighter vs. the Writer podcast. "We know it's going to happen at some point. Someone's going to die in there."

The former welterweight contender praised the UFC's medical protocols and commission partnerships for preventing serious injuries thus far. He singled out Dr. Jeff Davidson and the promotion's pre-fight screening requirements as key factors in the clean safety record. Brown pointed to teammate Mickey Gall being pulled from the same card after a brain-related medical issue as proof the UFC prioritizes fighter welfare over fight cards.
