Brady Defends Din Thomas Corner Role After UFC 330

Sean Brady will welcome Din Thomas into his corner for his next fight despite the analyst's controversial retirement announcement at UFC 330.

Thomas drew criticism after announcing on the UFC on Paramount+ post-fight show that he was stepping away from cornering, immediately following Gillian Robertson's strawweight title loss to Mackenzie Dern earlier this month. The public nature of the statement, which overshadowed Robertson's performance, prompted backlash from fans and analysts. Thomas has since apologized to Robertson, according to BJPenn.com.

Brady Supports Thomas Despite UFC 330 Fallout

Brady, who faces Gabriel Bonfim in a UFC Apex headliner later this year, told The Ariel Helwani Show that Thomas has earned the opportunity to work his corner again. "I don't agree with what he said and how he said it. I felt like that is definitely something I would want said in private," Brady said of the UFC 330 incident. "I love Din. Din has flown up to Philly multiple times and never asked me for anything. He's done a lot of good things for me and my team."

The welterweight contender confirmed he will continue training with Thomas regardless of the cornerman's final decision. "If he wants to be in my corner, I will gladly have him," Brady said. "It'll be a loss if he decides not to, but if he decides not to, I completely understand."

Brady most recently defeated Joaquin Buckley at UFC 328 in a dominant performance. Thomas has not confirmed whether he will return to cornering duties for the Bonfim fight.
