Chris Barnett Signs With Power Slap After UFC Exit

Former UFC heavyweight Chris Barnett has signed with Power Slap, the promotion announced Wednesday.

Barnett departed the UFC in 2025 after a 2-4 run that ended with back-to-back losses to Hamdy Abdelwahab and Kennedy Nzechukwu, per MMA Fighting. The 40-year-old mixed martial artist most recently competed in Karate Combat, where he stopped Johnathan Miller in 61 seconds this past December.

Barnett's Combat Sports Background

Power Slap has not announced an opponent or date for Barnett's debut. The heavyweight holds a 23-10 record in MMA and has competed across multiple disciplines since 2009, including boxing, kickboxing, and bare-knuckle boxing.

His UFC tenure included a Performance of the Night bonus for a knockout over Gian Villante. Barnett has also faced former UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero in submission grappling, tapping to a kimura in 2019.

Power Slap operates under Dana White's UFC umbrella and broadcasts on TBS. Details on Barnett's first slap-fighting appearance are expected in the coming weeks.
