Biaggio Ali Walsh taps to modified twister at PFL Austin
Biaggio Ali Walsh survived a scary submission sequence at PFL Austin on Saturday night.
The grandson of Muhammad Ali tapped to a modified twister just 2:32 into his prelim bout against undefeated prospect Gamid Khizriev, according to MMA Fighting. Khizriev controlled the fight from the opening bell, scoring takedowns at will against the boxer-turned-MMA fighter.
Khizriev locks in modified twister from body triangle
Walsh scrambled to get back to his feet but Khizriev took the back and secured a body triangle. When Walsh tried to turn into the triangle, Khizriev used his legs to trap him in a modified twister position that left no escape.
The moments after the tap raised concern when Walsh stayed down on the canvas, grimacing in pain while draped across Khizriev's leg. He eventually got to his feet and appeared to avoid serious injury.
The loss drops Walsh further behind in his effort to establish himself as a legitimate mixed martial artist rather than a novelty act trading on his lineage.
