Bettor Wins $10K On $666 Wager Against Bella Mir
A bettor collected more than $10,000 after placing a $666 wager on Alex Apodaca to upset Bella Mir at Tuesday's Contender Series card in Las Vegas.
Mir entered the Meta Apex bout as high as a -6000 favorite despite limited MMA experience, according to MMA Mania. Apodaca won a clear decision after three rounds, handing the bettor a five-figure return on the devilish stake.
Apodaca Dismisses Lopsided Odds After Win
Apodaca told reporters after the fight he ignored the betting line heading into the matchup. "I didn't want to look at the odds before, but I knew it was some garbage," he said, per MMA Mania. "I just truly believe if I stay present and in the moment, I can see everything and nobody is going to beat me."
The accountant added that his technical skill and strength made him confident regardless of the spread. Mir's odds reflected her pedigree as the daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, but Apodaca controlled the fight from the opening bell.
Dana White has not yet announced whether Mir will receive another Contender Series opportunity or if Apodaca earned a UFC contract from the performance.
