Benavidez To Launch Own Promotion After December 5 Fight

David Benavidez plans to start his own promotional company when his contract with longtime promoter Sampson Lewkowicz runs out in December.

His December 5 fight with Michal Cieslak will be the last under the current deal. After a decade together, Benavidez praised Lewkowicz but said it was time to go independent: “This is the last fight on my contract. Sampson did a wonderful job. He’s one of the greatest promoters … but it’s time to do my own thing,” Benavidez.

Benavidez also wants to sign fighters who train with him: “There’s a lot of great fighters I could take under my wing and put them under the promotion company,” Benavidez.
