Bella Mir expects DWCS appearance this summer amid busy schedule
Bella Mir is heading to Dana White's Contender Series this summer if talks now underway come together as expected.
Mir, daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and an undefeated mixed martial artist who has also competed at an elite level in wrestling and jiu-jitsu, confirmed to MMA Fighting on Wednesday that she is in discussions for a DWCS spot. Asked if an appearance would happen, she replied, "Most likely. Yeah."
Mir balancing multiple combat sports at high level
The 23-year-old prospect has not fought since scoring a first-round submission win for Fury FC roughly a year ago. In the meantime, she qualified for the U23 World Team in wrestling and is scheduled to face Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blaydes at Final X after Blaydes withdrew from an earlier bout due to injury. A UFC BJJ title fight is also reportedly in the works.
"This was always the plan," Mir said. "I think my plan is just always taking every opportunity thrown at me [whether] it happens to be MMA or wrestling or whatever it is."
Mir noted that a summer DWCS appearance would give her enough time to prepare for the U23 World Championships at the end of October. She also suggested a return to an RAF card could be in the cards before any Contender Series booking materializes.
