Anthony Taylor's Misfits Boxing heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight title defense spiraled into chaos Saturday night when he attacked opponent Matty Floyd moments after their bout was ruled a no-contest in Manchester, England.

The fight ended in the fifth round after a Floyd jab appeared to stun Taylor, who retreated and complained of an eye problem. Officials waved off the contest, prompting a furious Taylor to rush across the ring at Floyd before security and cornermen separated them, as MMA Fighting first reported.

Taylor claims Icy Hot on opponent's gloves

According to the broadcast, Taylor alleged that Floyd may have had Icy Hot on his gloves, which would have irritated his eyes. Taylor remained visibly upset after the stoppage, lying on the canvas for an extended period before being helped from the ring.

The close fight featured several heated exchanges, including Taylor shoving Floyd at the end of a round. Taylor retains his title but remains winless since 2024.
