Fury-Joshua fight excludes Zuffa Boxing, Hearn confirms
Anthony Joshua's contract for the Tyson Fury superfight requires the bout to take place in the U.K. and explicitly bars Dana White's Zuffa Boxing from promotional involvement, Eddie Hearn told BoxingScene.
While Joshua's deal contains the U.K. venue requirement, Fury's signed contract does not specify a location, according to the outlet. That leaves room for renegotiation, though Hearn stressed his fighter's terms are clear. "I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K.," he said.
Zuffa Boxing shut out despite Saudi ownership stake
Both fighters have signed contracts naming Hearn and Frank Warren as promoters of record for the matchup, with Zuffa Boxing contractually excluded. That sets up a potential clash with White, who told reporters last week he would promote the fight and hinted it might leave the U.K. Hearn floated Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium as one possible target, while two boxing officials told BoxingScene that Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh proposed SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Alalshikh owns 60 per cent of Zuffa Boxing, but the contracts in place lock the new promotion out. The fight agreements exist between Alalshikh, Saudi events planner Sela, and the two heavyweights. Joshua faces Kristian Prenga on July 25, while Fury takes a tune-up August 1 in Dublin before the two collide later this year.
