Anthony Smith Accused Of Attempted Assault On Wife
Former UFC heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight Anthony Smith was taken into custody Monday night in Nebraska following allegations he attempted to strike his wife with a car, the Sarpy County Attorney's Office told ESPN.
The arrest stems from a reported domestic violence incident involving the 36-year-old fighter and his spouse. Prosecutors claim Smith used a vehicle in an attempt to run her over during the confrontation.
Smith's UFC Career And Record
Smith competed in the UFC from 2013 to 2024, compiling a 19-10 record inside the octagon. He challenged Jon Jones for the heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight title at UFC 235 in 2019, losing via unanimous decision.
The Nebraska native last fought in November 2024, dropping a decision to Dominick Reyes at UFC 310. Smith has not publicly commented on the allegations since his arrest Monday.
