McGregor On Course To Overtake Dana White After Announcing BKFC Ownership
Conor McGregor has become part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships (BKFC).
The Notorious confirmed the news while the BKFC KnuckleMania 4 card was ongoing on April 27. Under the terms of the deal, ‘McGregor Sports and Entertainment’ will own a share. Triller will continue to operate as the majority shareholder, but the move shows McGregor is already planning for life outside the UFC.
The Irishman has shown an interest in BKFC, having faced off with Mike Perry at BKFC 41 in April 2023. McGregor’s Proper Twelve and Forged Irish Stout just happened to sponsor the event. The latest news will only make McGregor’s brand bigger.
McGregor’s Ownership
“The Notorious’ Conor McGregor here. Ladies and gentlemen, the huge announcement that I have for you today, Conor McGregor myself and McGregor Sports and Entertainment is now an owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships. Welcome to the big leagues. David Feldman, baby, we did it,” McGregor
“Look, you’ve got the biggest guy in all of combat sports right now as a part owner of our company. I think it’s just going to move the needle tremendously. We’re going to do a lot of big things. We’re going to open up a lot of new markets. Look, we’re partners with Conor McGregor. Everybody in the combat sports world, everybody in the world knows who that guy is. So Conor, thank you and let’s blow this s**t up…I’m over the moon. The biggest guy in combat sports, one of the top 10 guys in combat sports history, is now a part owner of BKFC. You tell me what that’s going to do? It’s going to the moon,” David Feldman
Further Reaction
McGregor is preparing to face Michael Chandler on June 29 at UFC 303. He has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He broke his leg in the defeat, taking his record to three losses out of his previous four UFC bouts. Chandler has not had an Octagon bout since losing to Poirier at UFC 281 in 2022. The period of inactivity could be crucial for both fighters since there are questions over whether they will be the same. However, Perry and Chandler have had something to say about McGregor’s BKFC ownership. Given McGregor’s huge name, they felt the move was only beneficial for combat sports.
“Conor out here making moves….hate it or love it, the dude is making stuff happen. With that being said, I KO him within 10 min on June 29 at #UFC303 @TheNotoriousMMA,” Chandler revealed
“Thank you, man. I know you see it. We all love Conor McGregor’s fights. I mean, he’s the biggest combat sports star in history, probably besides, you know, we still love Mike Tyson. He’s still about to do something big on this Netflix thing. But Conor McGregor, nobody moved that needle like him and the Irish fans. The Irish fanbase is like the No. 1 combat sports fanbase because they travel across the world to come and see Conor McGregor all the time. He’s just done remarkable things,” Perry stated
