McGregor Blasts Belal Muhammad's UFC Record - 'Wow, Zero Knockdowns'

Conor McGregor has mocked UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad in his latest social media attack against a fighter.

McGregor makes his own return to the UFC on June 29 against Michael Chandler. This is his first appearance since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. That took McGregor’s record to three losses out of his last four fights, compounded by the news of a broken leg. McGregor hopes he can get a win over Chandler, which will boost his chances of getting a title shot in the welterweight division. The current champion is Leon Edwards, someone whom McGregor has already attacked.

McGregor Reacts

“There’s too many decisions going on now with that Leon fella. Leon Edwards loves a decision. And then he’s fighting another…decision guy, your man Belal, so not great times in the welterweight title picture. Leon Edwards, Nate Diaz almost knocked him out, had him out on his feet. If that fight is going on, Leon is unconscious. Also, [Donald] Cerrone went the distance with him,” McGregor stated

Muhammad takes on Edwards at UFC 304 on July 27. Muhammad has won five on the bounce since his no contest against Edwards in 2021. Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad in the eye, resulting in a no-contest since he could no longer continue. McGregor took his time to mock Belal’s lack of KOs. Muhammad has stopped Takashi Sato and Sean Brady in his ten UFC fights.

“Wow zero knockdowns whatsoever,” McGregor said

McGregor also turned his attention towards UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev. The champion faces Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 on June 1. Islam is the favorite, having stopped Alexander Volkanovski in his last two fights. Islam has also gotten Khabib Nurmagomedov into his camp. The former lightweight champion has beaten Poirier. This will prove crucial as it gives Islam an insight into the tactics required to beat him.

Khabib will also be in Islam’s corner heading into the fight. Poirier has come up short on his two attempts to win the lightweight title. Losses to Khabib and Charles Oliveira prevented him from winning a world title. Poirier may be seen as the underdog. But he did secure a stoppage win over Benoit St Denis in his last fight.

McGregor On Makhachev

McGregor and Islam are not on the best of terms. The Notorious mocked the champion’s build-up photos for the Poirier fight, as he pointed out Islam’s hygiene. He referred to what he believed to be a staph infection on Makhachev’s left shin. Based on Islam’s words below, he wants a McGregor fight.

“Staph again….[He] lives with Staph. This team is infested, make no mistake. Scruff Whatever ya’s are into, I suppose. He still subs Dustin in the 1st,” McGregor stated

“[Dustin Poirier] finished Conor twice, brother, everybody can finish Conor 10 times. Why not? People have to be stupid to say no. Of course I will fight him. I’ll fight next in October or November, [or] I can fight August or September with McGregor,” Islam said
