McGregor Apologizes For Canceled Chandler Presser - 'There Were A Series Of Obstacles'

Conor McGregor apologized to fans after the first presser about the Michael Chandler fight was postponed in today’s latest MMA updates.

A presser was scheduled for June 3 live from the 3Arena in Dublin. However, 12 hours before the event, the UFC stated that the presser was called off. That was a major blow for UFC fans, given that the tickets had sold out within nine minutes. The live gate for the fight has already exceeded $20 million, which is a UFC record.

“Dear UFC Fans, The #UFC303 press conference scheduled for Monday June 3rd in Dublin, Ireland at 3Arena has been postponed until further notice. We sincerely apologise to all the fans who were planning to attend. When we have further information on a new date and time, we will share it immediately. – Thank you,” UFC stated

While the presser will be rescheduled for a later date, the UFC has not confirmed the date. They also did not give reasons as to why it was called off. That had left fans wondering if the fight would go ahead. Now, McGregor has given the reasons as to what happened.

McGregor Reacts

“In consultation with the UFC, today’s press conference was canceled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control. I apologize to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon,” McGregor stated

Nevertheless, the recent events surrounding McGregor do not look good for him. He was recently pictured partying at his Black Forge pub in Dublin. There is nothing to suggest that McGregor had been drinking. But it does imply that his focus is not there. It could be a sign of mental warfare to get Chandler more comfortable.

Ryan Garcia did something similar, only to state that a lot of his behavior was being fabricated to get into Haney’s head. A key part surrounding this fight is whether McGregor can keep his focus. He has numerous ventures outside of the UFC, which can pose a distraction. McGregor made his acting debut in Road House, which was released on March 21. He also became a part owner of BKFC. Chael Sonnen felt McGregor had no chance.

McGregor vs. Chandler

“Michael Chandler is going to win. You have the most disciplined guy in the sport…. arguably. You have the most undisciplined guy in the sport… for sure. It’s one of those situations where… when you do this conversation everyone’s going to be lazy like I’m going to be right now and say ‘Conor’s got a puncher’s chance and if Chandler stands up with him.

“I don’t know where they get this idea, a puncher’s chance. I know it’s something fun people say. There’s no such thing as a puncher’s chance, the better guy wins and he wins every single time. Michael Chandler can go out there and box with him at this point, you don’t get better at something by not doing it,” Sonnen stated
