Logan Paul Retires From Boxing – ‘I’m Going To Be A Wrestler Now’

In some top boxing news, Logan Paul has confirmed that he has retired from the sport of boxing to focus on his WWE career.

Paul’s last boxing fight, therefore, ended with a win over Dillon Danis after the latter was disqualified for attempting two MMA moves: a takedown and a guillotine choke.

Danis was making his boxing debut, but the build up would ultimately raise more interest in the fight, rather than the performance itself. Prior to the Danis bout, Paul’s only other fight was against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition.

The decision to walk away, therefore, rules out a rematch with Danis in either boxing or MMA. But by the looks of it, Paul has no regrets over their decision as the next steps have been lined up.

Paul Retires

“I think I’m retired from boxing. I’ve done enough going fully undefeated at 25-0. I’m going to be a wrestler now. No more money in boxing, every company is going broke. Full-time wrestler. Beat Rey Mysterio. Fair and square for the US Championship. It feels great. It was a dominant performance. Some frog splashes, some punches, it feels good,” Paul said

In contrast, Paul’s brother, Jake Paul, appears to be going from strength to strength. Following his win over Nate Diaz on August 5th, 2023, the boxer confirmed that he would be facing Andre August on December 15th, 2023.

That will be the second professional boxer that Paul has faced since his loss to Tommy Fury. And given that the aim is to become a world champion at some point, Paul appears to be making the right moves moving forward.

Jake Paul’s Goals

“I want to become a world champion. I’m going to become a world champion and these fights are all just stepping stones to get there. I’m slowly improving. I’ve sparred against world champions and done phenomenal against them, so who knows what can happen in two to three years from now when I go into my athletic prime? I’m starting to really, really get this sport and all aspects of it. It’s really actually scary what could possibly happen. I think not only will I become a world champion, I think I will be a dominant world champion and knock someone out for the belt,” Jake Paul stated

But when it comes to Logan himself, the now former boxer has targeted the same thing but in the sport of wrestling.

“I have to defend this belt. There are going to be people coming after me. Seth Rollins, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes. Whoever wants it, they can come get it. Mr. Bad Bunny. Whoever wants it can come get it. I have stuff to do in WWE,” Paul

Ultimately, the Paul brothers are leaving their mark in the combat sports world. And if that can inspire the next generation of fighters to come through, then that can only be a good thing moving forward.
