Jon Jones Would Destroy Ngannou - 'Francis Didn’t Want To Fight'

Jon Jones would have destroyed Francis Ngannou in an MMA fight.

That is according to Dana White. The UFC fans never saw the fight as Ngannou left the UFC last year. The Predator was unhappy with the contract talks, saying the offer would have taken away his power as an independent contractor. He left as the UFC Heavyweight Champion, having knocked out Stipe Miocic (UFC 260) to win the belt and then beat Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in 2022. Since then, he has signed a deal with the PFL.

His deal gave him the option to box, which he took up. He lost a narrow split decision against Tyson Fury last year, with many feeling he had done enough to win. He followed that up with a second-round KO loss to Anthony Joshua. While he has no wins in boxing, those bouts have secured his financial future. He earned more money than his entire UFC career. But he has not made his MMA debut, as inactivity will harm him.

Jones vs. Ngannou

Jones’ last fight was a first-round submission win against Gane at UFC 285 to win the vacant heavyweight title once Ngannou left the UFC. Jones had been out of the sport for three years, making the win more impressive. He pulled out of his UFC 295 defense against Miocic with a pectoral muscle injury. White expects him to fight by the end of the year. But if he did face Ngannou, White expected it to be one-way traffic for Jones.

“He went through Ciryl Gane like that, easily. In my opinion, he does the same thing to Francis. One hundred percent. He does the same thing to Francis. Francis didn’t want to fight Jon Jones. Jon Jones is the scariest, most bad…fighter of all time.

“Jon Jones has his issues outside of the Octagon, which actually makes it more impressive if you think about the lifestyle that he was living, and doing this to the best fighters in the world. Jon Jones is one of those guys that won’t truly be appreciated until he’s gone. But I’m telling you right now, when you talk about who the baddest man on the planet is, two guys get locked in a room, who is walking out? It’s..Jon Jones all day, every time,” White said

Will It Happen?

White has the chance to make that fight and prove it to the fans. PFL’s Donn Davis is open to working with the UFC to make it. This would be done in co-promotion. However, White has turned that down, saying the PFL is not on the UFC’s radar. He has also said he will never work with Ngannou again.

Unfortunately, that leaves fans wondering who would have come out on top. The next best fight for Jones is to face Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion. Aspinall faces Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 on July 27 in their rematch. Should Aspinall win, the pressure on Jones to take that fight will increase. Fans do not want to see another missed opportunity like they did with Ngannou.
