Jon Jones Faces Probe Over Alleged Threat To Drug Testing Officer

Jon Jones is allegedly being investigated after claims he threatened to kill a drug testing officer last month who had come to collect his testing samples.

Reports indicate that the testers were part of the UFC’s Anti-Doping Program. USADA’s decision to part ways with the UFC at the end of last year meant Drug Free Sports International took their place. It is claimed the female drug tester informed the police that Jones had threatened to kill her. She alleges that Jones was intoxicated. But before she could tell the authorities, Jones grabbed her phone, so she could not do it. Since then, Jones has shared some security footage of two testers leaving. He shows them to their car, giving them a high-five, indicating that everything was fine.

Jones Reacts

“I want to address reports about me allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life and taking a phone. I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my home after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug.

“Although I was frustrated with the unprofessionalism and used profanity out of frustration it ended friendly and amicably, nothing threatening at all. I was actually celebrating a friend’s birthday party at my home, and I believe it’s perfectly normal to celebrate in the comfort of my own home.

“I must say, this particular tester behaved quite unprofessionally and even breached standard protocol along with HIPAA laws. Throughout my 20 years of being subjected to drug tests, I have never encountered such an incident with a DCO officer before,” Jones said

Jones’ Return

This is the last thing that Jones needs. He is recovering from a pectoral muscle injury sustained in sparring. The injury prevented him from defending his title at UFC 295 against Stipe Miocic. Jones had surgery, but it was followed up by more surgery on his elbow. Since then, Tom Aspinall has called on the UFC to strip Jones.

The Brit wanted to fight Miocic, with the winner then facing Jones. Dana White refused to do that, leaving Aspinall on the sidelines. Aspinall has not remained quiet, demanding the fight, leaving some to indicate that Jones is ducking him. The latest incident does not show Jones in a positive light, as Aspinall does fancy his chances of beating Jones.

“He’s alright, mate. First time I met him. He’s nowhere as big as I thought. I thought he’s a lot taller, but I guess when you fight at light-heavyweight your whole career, and you’re 6’4″, you look really tall. But I’m a full-grown heavyweight, aren’t I? He’s nowhere as big as me, but size doesn’t matter really. We’re both massive guys, but I’ll take that one. I think I beat him definitely,” Aspinall revealed

Jones is entering into the latter part of his career. He was absent for three years before returning to beat Ciryl Gane last year. His inactivity and injury issues mean he must keep himself together outside the Octagon. This incident has not helped his cause.
