Biography

Professional Career

Pedro Guevara began his career on March 15, 2008, with a second-round TKO victory over Gabriel Lopez in El Dorado, Sinaloa, Mexico. This victory was a precursor to his dominance in the ring, as he swiftly built an undefeated record with a series of wins, including a third-round TKO against Francisco Lopez in May 2009 and a unanimous decision victory over German Aaron Cota in March 2009. Guevara’s rise continued as he captured the WBC Silver light flyweight title by knocking out Karluis Diaz in the third round on December 18, 2010, in Tijuana, Baja California. His prowess in the light flyweight division was further cemented with victories over notable opponents such as Jorle Estrada, whom he defeated by TKO to win the NABF light flyweight title in July 2011, and Mario Rodriguez, with whom he had a split draw but later secured victories in subsequent bouts.

In 2014, Guevara achieved one of the most significant milestones of his career by winning the WBC light flyweight title with a knockout victory over Akira Yaegashi in Tokyo, Japan. He successfully defended this title multiple times, including a first-round TKO against Richard Claveras in April 2015 and a unanimous decision win over Ganigan López in July 2015. However, he faced a setback later that year, losing the title to Yu Kimura in a split decision in Sendai, Japan.

Despite this loss, Guevara continued to demonstrate his resilience and skill, transitioning to the super flyweight division where he won the vacant WBC FECARBOX title in 2018. His career in the super flyweight division has been marked by impressive victories, such as the unanimous decision over Janiel Rivera in July 2019 and the TKO win against Victor Matute in November 2019. In recent years, Guevara has continued to showcase his talent, capturing the vacant WBC Interim super flyweight title with a split decision victory over Andrew Moloney on May 12, 2024, in Perth, Australia. This victory followed a series of wins, including a unanimous decision over Lamberto Macias in February 2024 and a hard-fought split decision loss to Carlos Cuadras for the same interim title in November 2023.
