Professional Career
Spark’s journey began on October 31, 2014, in Toowoomba, with a first-round TKO against Kyle Teer, signaling his entry into the professional ranks with a decisive victory. Following his debut, Spark continued to build his career through a series of wins, showcasing his power and precision in the ring. A significant early victory came against Daniel Beverley in January 2016, where Spark delivered a fourth-round TKO, demonstrating his ability to finish fights emphatically. He continued this trend throughout 2016 and 2017, securing the Australian National Boxing Federation Queensland Super Light title by stopping Mark Ramirez in the sixth round in October 2016, and earning the Australian Super Light title with a retirement win over Gearoid Clancy in August 2017, where Clancy was down twice in the first round.
Spark’s ability to dominate continued as he claimed the IBF Youth Super Light title in March 2018 with a knockout of Luis Castillo Leal, and later that year, a TKO win over Taisho Ozawa in November further cemented his reputation. These victories demonstrated not only his knockout power but also his readiness to face higher-caliber opponents. 2021 was a pivotal year for Spark, marking his move into more competitive bouts. Although he faced a setback with a TKO loss to Tim Tszyu in July for the Commonwealth and WBO Global Super Welter titles, Spark’s resilience shone through. He bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Jack Brubaker in April, showcasing his ability to compete at a high level and adapt his strategy.
In 2022, Spark’s career saw a notable victory when he won the WBA Inter-Continental Super Light title in November by disqualification against Montana Love, after Love was disqualified for throwing Spark over the top rope. This win highlighted the unpredictable nature of boxing and Spark’s readiness to capitalize on any opportunity. However, his most recent bout in May 2023 against Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela ended in a split decision loss, underscoring the challenges at the upper levels of the sport.
