Fans Shout Robbery As Taylor Beats Serrano – ‘Serrano Landed 107 More Punches’

Katie Taylor won a controversial unanimous decision against Amanda Serrano to retain her Undisputed Junior Welterweight Title.
Their first fight was a controversial split decision win for Taylor, and this time around, Serrano had arguably done enough to win. Taylor was outlanded and had a point deducted, but it was not enough to get the win. The two fighters were trying to establish their range in the opener. Serrano was doubling up on her jab as she came forward, while Taylor found her home with the right hand on the counter. Serrano suddenly tagged Taylor with a big left hook on the chin while Taylor was on the ropes. Taylor was shaken. Had it been in the middle of the round, Taylor would have been in trouble.
Serrano Starts Strong
The two fighters were now exchanging on the inside. Taylor shook Serrano with a right hand, followed by a left hook. Serrano had Taylor on the ropes again, only for Katie to tie her up by clinching. Serrano was trying to hold the centre by landing to the body when she could. Serrano’s eye was showing visible bleeding in the fourth. An accidental headbutt cut Serrano above the right eye.
Headbutt

Two left hooks followed as Taylor tried to press home the advantage. Serrano was now receiving treatment in the corner. Amanda had thrown more punches by the fifth, connecting with 156 from 237. Meanwhile, Taylor connected with 53 from 156. Taylor was warned for holding in the sixth. But Katie landed a massive right hand, opening the cut again. The fight was stopped as the referee allowed Serrano to get the cut attended to. However, she was allowed to continue.
Point Deduction
Taylor was backing Serrano on the ropes in the seventh, landing a two-punch combo. However, she took a left hook in return. The eighth was a big shift in momentum. Serrano connected with a big right hand. While Taylor responded with a left hook, Katie had a point deducted for excessive holding that resulted from the headbutts. The pair were exchanging in the ninth. Serrano landed a huge right hand while Taylor responded with a left.
Both fighters were now neglecting their defense. Taylor was told to leave everything in the ring. While Taylor finished strongly, Serrano held on to take it to the scorecards. Despite the point deduction, Taylor controversially won a unanimous decision: 95-94, 95-94 and 95-94. And yet, Serrano had landed 324 punches compared to Taylor’s 217, resulting in mass criticism. The crowd booed heavily, showing their dissatisfaction at the result.
Post-Fight
“It’s hard to score the fight, an absolute war, thank god, congratulations to Amanda. She’s a hard puncher, a tough warrior, I had to prepare for that. I don’t care if the commentary team or the crowd disagree. “I don’t agree with the deduction, I certainly wasn’t fighting dirty, it sometimes gets rough in there. This was the greatest, we put a show on,” Katie Taylor
“I’m a featherweight, every time you get cut it bothers you, she headbutted me, not just me. No matter how many cuts I have, I’m a warrior, I think all I can say is that she does it in every fight. “She did it with Cameron, it is what it is, no matter what, I’m a champion. Listen, I’m happy with my team, I’m in Jerry’s World, who knew two women would fight here? I’m on Netflix! “It [a third fight] is up to the team,” Amanda Serrano
