Experience Can’t Save Noah Cutter in BKFC Prospect Series Event

Noah Cutter became just the seventh man in the young history of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships to compete for the 10th time. Cutter’s performance indicated he may be better off finding another line of work. Donald Sanchez caught Cutter with a vicious punch 35 seconds in to score a knockout and drop Cutter’s career record to 3-7.

It was a nice moment for Sanchez, who improved his record to 2-1. All three of Sanchez’s fights in the organization have come at Revel Arena in his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sachez didn’t have much to do to secure the knockout. He landed a stiff jab followed by a hook that forced Cutter to face plant.

When Cutter attempted to get up, he was on wobbly legs. After taking a couple of steps toward the ropes, Cutter couldn’t regain steady footing, and the referee waived off the fight. Sanchez, 39, hopes to stay active enough to climb the rankings quickly. Sanchez is hardly a new face on the combat sports scene.

Sanchez fought in 49 professional MMA bouts, but most of those were on the regional scene. Sanchez would like to become a champion of an organization with a larger profile before he decides to step away from fighting for good. This event was a solid showcase for prospects. Boxing updates tonight show it was an exciting night of fights, as there were several knockouts and a few people who got revenge for previous results.

Starling Grabs Her Revenge

Five years is a long time to wait for another opportunity to fight someone. Not many circumstances were similar to the first time Taylor Starling and Jenny Clausius fought. When the two first met in 2019, both women were fighting in MMA.

Clausius picked up a third-round stoppage during that bout. But this time around, Starling showed she is the better fighter when it comes to bare-knuckle boxing. Starling ground out a unanimous decision win. It was a nice bounce back for Starling, who had a tough past couple of years.

Starling took an embarrassing loss in August 2022 when she lost to Christine Ferea in a women’s strawweight title bout at BKFC 28. After being hit with a vicious flurry of punches, the referee stopped the bout. Part of the reason for the stoppage was Starling telling her corner and the referee that she couldn’t do it.

Boxing updates tonight show this was a difficult loss for Clausius. Clausius has now lost back-to-back fights. Previously, Clausius had opened her BKFC career by winning three of her first four fights within the organization.

Protecting the Family Name

Eric Dodson has much to live up to when he steps into the squared circle. Dodson is attempting to climb to the featherweight division’s top, just like his brother John, who grabbed the BKFC title in the flyweight division. After an unsuccessful BKFC debut, Eric has started to flash some of his brother’s talent.

Matched up with Dakota Highpine, Eric made quick work of his opponent. Eric pinned Highpine against the ropes and emptied the tank with a flurry of punches, sending Highpine to the mat. Highpine told the referee he couldn’t see, and the fight was waived off. Eric celebrated the win in style, break dancing at the center of the ring after the fight was waived off.

Eric has now won three straight fights, all of which came by first-round stoppage. John has continued to fight in MMA while also serving as BKFC champion. John won the championship by beating JR Ridge by TKO at BKFC 48 last August. John’s last MMA bout didn’t go quite as well. He lost to Hiromasa Ougikubo by decision at Rizin 45.

Last-Second Stoppage

Two Albuquerque-based fights had a wild fight at light heavyweight. William Albrecht never eased up on Freddy Sandoval during the first round. Albrecht was the more powerful fighter and sent Sandoval to the canvas three times.

The last of those knockdowns earned a stoppage to the fight with one second remaining in the first round. This was the first professional fight of Albrecht’s career. Sandoval was the much more experienced fighter at the professional level. Sandoval had a one-fight appearance in Bellator and finished his MMA career with a 5-10-1 record.

Adding a New Perspective to the Mix

Ismail Israilov became the first Chechnyan fighter to compete in BKFC. Israilov likely left many in attendance eager to see what else he could do. It only took Israilov 72 seconds to knock out Don Mohammed during his debut.

Israilov has also competed in MMA recently. Israilov knocked out Daniel De La Cruz in the third round of LFA 169. Israilov is now 3-1 in MMA in addition to his 1-0 record in BKFC.

UFC Veteran Makes Successful BKFC Debut

Juan Adams has had a long and colorful career in MMA. Adams fought at heavyweight in the PFL and UFC. Now, Adams is attempting to find success by fighting with bare knuckles. He found success during his first event at the prospect series.

Adams beat his opponent, Matt Adams by TKO in the third round. Adams was 10-6 during his MMA career but only went 1-3 during a short stint with the UFC. Adam’s most recent success in MMA came when he made the 2022 PFL Heavyweight playoffs. However, Adams wasn’t able to take the next step to contend for a championship.

MMAfightlng latest news shows that Adams lost by TKO to Scheffel in the third round by knockout.

Here are other results from the BKFC Prospect Series:

  • Karla Alvarez win by first-round TKO over Brittany Horton, Round 1 1:59
  • Felipe Chavez win by TKO (doctor stoppage) over Michael Manno, Round 3 1:27
  • Kaine Tomlinson Jr win by KO over Apostle Spencer, Round 1 :33
  • Zach Pannell win by KO Kasey Yates, Round 1 1:44
